About

EmPower is the one-stop-shop for all patient health awareness initiatives created and promoted by the American College of Endocrinology (ACE) in conjunction with the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE). Donald Bergman, MD, MACE, former President of AACE, founded the initiative in 2003, under the name Power of Prevention. The original goal of the Power of Prevention program was to equip patients with the tools they need to live healthier lives and focused on educating school-aged children on the importance of proper nutrition and increased physical activity.

In doing so, we realized that this program was not just giving patients the power to learn about endocrine conditions. Many patients have told us that the resources empower them to take charge of their health. And therefore, in 2011, we decided to rename the initiative, and call it EmPower.

We hope that as you browse this site (EmPowerYourHealth.org) and review the resources, you will learn something new and feel empowered to live a healthier lifestyle.

The American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE) represents more than 6,500 endocrinologists in the United States and abroad. AACE is the largest association of clinical endocrinologists in the world. The majority of AACE members are certified in Endocrinology and Metabolism and concentrate on the treatment of patients with endocrine and metabolic disorders including diabetes, thyroid disorders, osteoporosis, growth hormone deficiency, cholesterol disorders, hypertension and obesity. The American College of Endocrinology is a scientific, educational and charitable medical organization dedicated to promoting the art and science of clinical endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism for the improvement of patient care and public health.
